Challenging and inspiring. You have to love and care for God’s creation. That means loving and caring for other people and the earth that is our home. You also have to accept the love others have for you, take care of your health and develop the skills that have been given to you by God. Caring for God’s awesome creation is a tremendous responsibility that requires exceptional teamwork. Fortunately God is not asking each of us to do it all ourselves. We are members of one of the greatest teams on earth and each of us is only responsible for our part regardless of whether we are custodians or the Chief Executive Officers of large companies.
Jesus Christ was the ultimate servant leader who taught his followers by example to work together to improve the quality of life for everyone. Today the members of Christ’s Team are the more than two billion Christians in the world. You will find them virtually everywhere you go on earth. The Apostle Paul, in 1st Corinthians 12 in the Bible, called them members of the Body of Christ, but his description of them is the same as the description used in the 21st century of members of a team.
Christians have been slow to make that connection so if you are wearing your jacket that says “Serving on Christ’s Team” don’t expect people to immediately recognize what it means. Unfortunately many Christians still do not associate Christianity with teamwork. However, with the diligent work of writers like Dr. J. Dale Roach, webmaster for the web site www.likeateam.com and author of The Jethro Ministry that may soon change.
